Living locally has given Mark a great advantage when dealing with people and property. Mark purchased a home in the local area before the big property boom and has seen many changes in that time.

Mark made the transition to Real Estate from almost 9 years in the NZ Police. He started his Police career in Gisborne and made the move to South Auckland in May 2000.

His experiences include front line duties, traffic patrol, dispatching at the Communications centre, highway patrol and Community Constable, ending his career in Mangere.

Before the Police, Mark worked and travelled in the UK and Europe, including Turkey, Egypt and Israel.

Mark was also a soldier in the NZ Army for 5 years, serving in a multi-national peace keeping force in the Sinai Desert, being awarded a General Service Medal (G.S.M).

He brings to Real Estate his life experiences, which involve dealing with people in sometimes trying and stressful situations.

His philosophy is "you should never lose sight of the fact people matter and one thing I have learned is how to listen."

We first knew of Mark via a door knock, he seemed very easy to chat with. Mark has an easy to deal with nature backed by a solid knowledge and fresh apporach. We chose auction but were given all the information needed to make the choice over all the other options.
Three & a half weeks later, well in excess of 120 groups had been around to view our house, one open home lasting 1.5 hours not the 30 mins due to the interest. Mark had really gone the extra mile to ensure a successful auction. The big day arrived and the auction room at Avondale was packed. All our concerns about reserves and bottom lines soon evaporated as bidding was very keen. The result just astounding.

I have written this letter of recommendation for Mark Birdling for the following reasons:
I found Mark to be a very honest person. He genuinely cares about securing the best price possible for the vendor. Mark also keeps you informed throughout the whole process of selling your property. He goes to great lenghts to ensure you are aware of all your options with regard to marketing your property along with various ways your property can be sold (ie: auction, internet, tender etc). Mark will at no stage push or bully you throughout the process of selling your property, which is something I have experienced in the past.
I have sold several properties over the years and really hate land agents, as far as I am concerned they are as bad if not worse than car salesmen. There is far too many real estate people out there that will tell you what you wnat to hear with regards to the value of your property inn order to secure sole agency.
If your property does not sell quickly they will advise you your asking price is too high, and commence telling you all the reasons why it is too high. In short there is far too many agents around that care only about turning over properties as quickly as possible and with as little effort as possible.
Mark has a very pleasing disposition and very easy to deal with, and you can have no doubt about Mark securing the best possible price for your property. This year we had occasion to sell a house in Avondale. I was given Mark's name as a reference as a person who could manage the sale for us.
Frankly Mark did an outstanding job.
Right from taking the time to understand what we wanted, the marketing, the process and making sure the delivery was what we expected.

I would like to say as a first home buyer I was fortunate to buy my property through Mark.
