I’ve known Blair for many years and have used him to market and sell several properties. Most recently he handled the sale of 68 Old Mill Rd, Westmere for The Longtail Trust of which I am a trustee. The trust had been contemplating selling for some time and had had several conversations with Blair around this property over an 18 month period. On each occasion Blair answered my questions, gave an opinion but was never pushy or aggressive for the listing. We brought the property to market and Blair came to me on the first day with an unconditional offer. While solid and above my expectation, my initial instinct was to decline the offer and see the sale process through to auction day. It was after all ‘day one’. Blair accepted my decision, but took some time to explain another option to me – namely to accept the offer, bring the auction forward to right after the first open home and see if we could flush out any other buyers and potentially increase my unconditional offer. I reflected on Blair’s option, and in a fairly hot property market decided that this was the best option for us. The auction was subsequently brought forward and the property sold to my great satisfaction. Throughout this sale process Blair conducted himself with the utmost professionalism, demonstrating care and attention to not only the trust as vendor but also the tenant who, while supportive of the sale was also a little upset to have to potentially move out. Blair went beyond the call of duty writing references for the tenant and genuinely assisting her to find a new home, which he did. I would have no hesitation in recommending Blair to any potential vendors – he’s the best in the business at marketing, negotiation, sales and follow-up - I know that we received the absolute maximum result out of this property. For many years both Jonathan and myself have worked on the fringes of the real estate industry. As a brand/ advertising agency to a large Auckland real estate player, we were very aware of the pit falls, the hard sell strategies and the negative edge of the industry you work in. Lazy agents, communication voids and broken promises, we knew was the darker side of an industry that had attracted tough government legislation. Yet, this was not our experience. We recently listed and sold our home with Blair Haddow.
