Alan Li

Alan Li has swiftly become an indispensable asset to Bayleys Hamilton and a magnet for both buyers and sellers in the burgeoning Chinese community, as the first and only Mandarin and Cantonese speaking salesperson in the team.

He works alongside David Cashmore, who has built an enviable reputation selling some of Hamilton’s finest homes over the past 10 years and is consistently ranked #1 or #2 salesperson for Bayleys Waikato.

Having called Hamilton home for the past 14 years, Alan obtained a Bachelors’ degree from Waikato University majoring in Human Resource Management. A lover of technology, he then followed his passion and completed a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science at Wintec.

It was while working at PB Tech in Auckland after completing his studies that he first realised his skills in sales – he was consistently ranked as one of the company’s Top 3 salespeople, turning over more than $300,000 of stock per month.

He put these skills to good use in recent years as the owner and manager of Canton Hong Kong, a Chinese restaurant located on Alexandra Street in Hamilton which thrived under his leadership. While he has handed over the managerial reigns to focus on his real estate career now, he maintains a watchful eye over his business and a presence in the restaurant when he can.

Alan credits his success in both tech sales and hospitality to his personality and knack for relating to people, providing impeccable service, being honest and upfront and above all, sheer hard work.

Using these skills, coupled with his passion for property, he is well positioned to expertly guide buyers and sellers on their real estate journey, navigating any language and cultural challenges which crop up along the way.

He also has close ties with investor groups and individuals in China, regularly travelling to his home country to nurture these relationships.

The proud father of two (a daughter aged 4, and son aged 6) Alan hails from the Rototuna area of Hamilton and in his downtime enjoys keeping up on technology research and trends across the world.
