Okato is a small township in rural Taranaki, New Zealand. The population was 531 in the 2006 Census, an increase of 12 from 2001.[1] It is situated about 25 minutes drive around the coast from New Plymouth on State Highway 45. Oakura is 12 km to the north-east, and Warea is 9 km to the south-west.[2][3] The place offers popular rocky surfing spots around coastal beaches. Okato has a rich art community, with names like Dale Copeland, Alby Carter, Graham Kirk, Peter Lambert, Waldo, Paul Hutchinson and many others being from there.
Okato has all the elements of a vibrant New Zealand rural community: with sporting facilities (rugby grounds, bowling club, squash courts, tennis courts and swimming pool), Coastal Taranaki School, a local police station, and a volunteer fire brigade.
Okato was also notable as the home of Okato Cheese which was manufactured by the Okato Co-operative Dairy Company. This manufacturing site closed some years after merging to Egmont Co-operative Dairy.
Activities in the Okato area include the Stony River walkway which affords a number of locations from which to take photos of Mt Taranaki.
My husband Lyndsay and I own a 160ha dairy farm in Okato - where our 4 children were all brought up. I was a nurse for 30 years and loved it, but had to change careers after a back injury.
I like to look after people and care for them when I sell their property. Selling can be stressful - especially when the property is part of a farm that has been in the family for generations. My experience as a nurse gives me the skills to understand people with ill health as well as retirees having to downsize. However it is exciting and rewarding to be able to sell their properties to younger families coming to our area. I take pleasure in showing people from out of town all the beautiful resources we have in the New Plymouth area.
My very supportive family and friends have all helped me become successful in Real Estate, especially around the coast. I have been selling for 22 years and have am grateful to have loyal clients.
With my National Diploma in Real Estate, I believe that I can give you the ultimate service whether you are selling or buying.
My motto is, “I sell from the heart because I care.”
