Our house on the Ridgeway is our quite, tranquil hideaway in the city. After a day at work, fighting the wind to close the car door, I love sitting in the cable car for 1-2 minutes as it takes me to my house among the trees. I like whistling to the Tui's and waiting for there reply (although they have learnt to mimic the sound of my car alarm that means the car doors are open!). Once in the house, I forget about the wind as there is none down here! I open the door and walk into the warm house and thank the central heating, grab a cup of tea and sit and watch the view over Wellington and the hills behind Eastbourne. In the mornings when the sun is poring into the house, I pull back my bedroom curtains and look out into a sea of green and listen to the birds while I get ready to start another day. When my daughters friends come around, we send them of into the garden safe and every hour send down sandwiches and drink, while the sound of their play and laughter drifting into the house.
