Designed by Stan Ballinger, 'The Aluminium House' was architecturally significant when designed in 1960. The Architect and his clients were avant-garde for the time by siting the house to a North-facing aspect and forming an open plan living space layout. The national importance of the house has been acknowledged in publications on modernist architecture. Flexibility of use was an important part of the design. The open plan space can be divided by full-width concertina walls and the storage units on either side of the kitchen are flexible and can be shifted to accommodate different living requirements. Four bedroom accommodation is provided, one bedroom is part of a self contained apartment (with a separate Kitchen and Lounge and bathroom), if desired. The main bedroom is on the upper level which is serviced by a refurbished en-suite. The remaining bedrooms are on the ground floor with another bathroom which have been remodelled in a contemporary design which remains sympathetic with the original house. At the front of the home a deck connects the entire lower level and is surrounded by established native bush. A double garage with internal access is also provided. A home with an edge - a home of absolute style and soul.
