A keen interest in people fostered by a nursing background, together with a fascination in homes led me to begin my career in real estate. Equipped with the knowledge and confidence of AREINZ status, I enjoyed three years selling under the Harcourts banner based in Browns Bay. Here I attained regional and national ratings. In 1990 I began a years management which ensured I have an all round grounding in real estate. In 1991 I joined Bayleys Real Estate based in Auckland city and in the following two and a half years benefited greatly by working in a team concentrated on controlled promotion at the top end of the market. This lead me to work with Impact Real Estate on the North shore before joining Barfoot and Thompson in Pukekohe when Warwick and I moved out to our Mangatawhiri and vineyard in 2000.
Now totally focusing on rural and lifestyle property in the Franklin region I am thrilled to be part of the Remax Edge Real Estate team, a progressive, world wide company well established as a successful marketing force We all live in the district which ensures local knowledge and pride in our chosen location.
I have found that well planned, controlled marketing strategies have ensured my clients sell their properties; not just for a price but in many instances achieving better than their expectations. Since commencing my real estate career in 1987 I have successfully sold in excess of 90% of the properties I have been asked to sell. The same dedication and commitment that earned me a world ranking in masters swimming now works for the Vendors who entrust the sale of what is often their most valuable asset, to my care. I understand the essential need to offer my clients uncompromising levels of service, market knowledge and sales effort whilst tailoring programmes to suit their individual needs.

My work excites me and is highly satisfying - can I help you?

My forebears were some of the earliest settlers in New Zealand in 1853. My great grandfather bought land in Clevedon and together with a Matheson cousin they were the first to venture into the Hunua and Paparimu districts where they took up land. My grandfather and father followed and once I had finished College and five years of commercial experience in Auckland I married then together we purchased a 69 acre part of the original 3000acre estate building to a 70 cow Jersey herd in 1959. We sold this property well in 1960 and moved to a rundown 730 acre sheep and beef property in the King Country. This prospered and ran 3,000 breeding ewes and supporting cattle and due to its close proximity to Te Kuiti yards and rail allowed us to purchase and fatten store lambs cheaply on impressive summer country. We increased the holding to around 1000 acres and in 1966 had 11,000 sheep and lambs on the place at one time. When wool prices collapsed in 1967 we sold and I took up a position with an ICI subsidiary in Queensland doing farm advisory work. Here I learnt some of the diverse uses to which land could be put as Queensland grows practically everything except rubber and cocoa. During this time I was offered a position with the World Bank working in Trinidad and Tobago but we declined for family reasons having three children in colleges in New Zealand. Returning in 1969 I took up work in the travel industry in Auckland and focussed more on the development of my 1,100 acre Whitianga coastal property purchased in 1966. I syndicated a forestry partnership with eight good friends and today we have a 300 acre radiata plantation almost ready for harvest. Several years of property development in Auckland followed building townhouses in the Eastern suburbs. My real estate career began in 1986 at Beltons in Remuera where I found work interesting and rewarding - both financially (because I achieved) and emotionally because it`s great to help vendors get a good result. I moved when Harcourts opened first in Auckland and sold their first auction in that city from the Remuera office. I attained first in the branch and became one of the top ten salespeople in Harcourts nationally. When Ann and I teamed up in 1993 I moved to North Shore City and worked with Impact Real Estate - a team of very focussed and motivated people. After purchasing a 32 hectare property at Mangatawhiri Ann and I worked with Barfoot and Thompson in Papakura and Pukekohe gathering a good deal of feeling for the district and its needs. To this end we felt our experience could best be used in conjunction with Gordon Pryde in Franklin Real Estate free of the strictures imposed on sales staff by the large companies.
