Listening and getting to know the needs of people has been a consistent part of Derek’s career.

Trained as a medical scientist with roles in the management of hospital services, his commitment then was for people and the community, and this continues to drive him today.

Derek’s broad array of life and work experience combined with his knowledge and calm professional manner, allows him to serve clients on every level.

This may be as an advisor, guide, negotiator and most importantly communicator, to make each clients journey in real estate, successful, seamless and stress free.

Community involvement is important to Derek. He has been involved in coaching Bay of Plenty sport, Tauranga Repertory Theatre, and the Arts Council. He has just completed three years as crew on Coastguard TECT Rescue and is Chairman of the Tauranga Maritime Trust. Combining his extensive experience of health and business management, Derek recently stood for election to the District Health Board.

Derek’s core belief is that clients comes first above everything else.
He believes that “You can never promise your best and not follow through, if you expect to develop the trust and respect of a client".

"Delivering his promise" has been an unspoken commitment that he makes to his clients.

Along with many of his fellow Waikato residents David was attracted to the Bay of Plenty in his teens, not just to the sunshine, harbour and beaches, but to the vibrance within Tauranga and Mount Maunganui and the Lifestyle on offer to residents.

Having made the move to Tauranga, the next fifteen years saw David immersed in establishing and operating service stations, followed by a period spent developing a large Kiwifruit orchard in conjunction with a group of business partners, giving David a solid grounding in horticulture here in the Bay.

With an early-established passion for all things property, David was attracted to the rural real estate sector in the early 90’s, and it was here that he truly found his niche.

David’s encyclopaedic knowledge of both the properties and the residents of the Bay is truly impressive. His decades in real estate have provided him the opportunity to become familiar with a vast array of properties near and far. Chances are, if you’ve bought or sold a rural/lifestyle property anywhere between Welcome Bay and Katikati within the past thirty years, then David will be familiar with that property!

With his client-focused mindset, David is a details guy, and with as many deals under his belt as he has, you can be sure that the contracts he writes are absolutely water-tight.

David has enjoyed a lengthy career with Realty Services Limited under both their Eves rural and Bayleys country banners, and since transferring within the group to EVES Bethlehem David has discovered the joys of Residential Sales, his portfolio now boasting plenty of fantastic sales and happy clients in this sector too.
