8 years ago when the opportunity to own and operate my own business came along, I grabbed it, successfully expanding my business and selling part of it 2 years later.
In 2007 my husband and I took a huge step and immigrated to New Plymouth from South Africa. This might look like a daunting task for most, but for me it was just another challenge and a step in the right direction.
I have integrated into the local community by being a part time dancing teacher at the Patten Academy of Dancing for the past 3 years.
I have recently made an exciting change in my Real Estate career by joining the Harcourts Team.

Karen works for Bayleys New Plymouth, never have I came across an agent so full of life, enthusiasm, energy and most of all willingness to help, be the best and do the best she can to fulfil all our needs. It was never too late at night or too early in the morning to call Karen with any questions or uncertainties. She was always very friendly and helpful. When it came to the open homes, which I dreaded every single time, Karen was there to give advice on how to better the presentation and make it more welcoming for the viewers. Karen helped us realize one of our biggest dreams. This is the short version of my experience in dealing with Karen Hardy the real estate agent for Bayleys. Since I met my Husband in December of 2001 it has been our dream to own our own house. A place we can call home. July 2009 the time had finally come for us to start looking for this house. I had never understood why they called it house hunting, it felt like a never ending search. Being 1st home buyers we had a small and very stretched budget with which we hoped to get everything we always wanted. After contacting numerous estate agents and viewing dozens of websites I was starting to loose hope. It started to dawn on us that something was going to have to give, we needed to compromise on something. Then we got the mail, Karen like most estate agents had dropped a flyer in our mail box for a house she had on the market. It was perfect for us, in the right area, right size best of all the right price!!! We did not have to compromise on anything. Even though it was a Friday night I phoned Karen up and enquired about the property, I was not going to let this 1 slip trough. From answering the phone Karen was friendly, helpful and actually listened to what I wanted not just what I was saying. She managed to arrange a viewing 15minutes later, this is 6 o'clock on a Friday getting to view a property has never been this easy. The photos did not do the house justice, it was definitely our dream home. WE COULD AFFORD IT! It was like landing on cloud nine. We had a appointment with another agent on Sunday to view another house, but we would be contacting Karen on Monday come what may. Well we couldn't wait, saw Karen at the open home on Sunday afternoon and told her we want it NOW! Offer documents was drawn up and signed by lunch time Monday, 20:30 Monday night Karen was at our house to share the good news. The vendors had accepted our offer, only asking to move the settlement date. Ironically enough the settlement date was the only thing we could negotiate on thus we where sold. We went unconditional the following Tuesday. Moved in 2.5weeks later. All in all we went from phoning Karen to moving in our dream home within a month. She never failed in keeping us informed on exactly what was going on during the whole process. All our questions where answered, all our wants seen to.
