About Stephen
When it comes to the Whareroa district there is not too much that Stephen Sanderson from Bayleys Turangi does not know!
Stephens first association with the Whareroa district began when he started working with the Department of Lands and Survey in 1970; the office administered the Whareroa Station on which the Whareroa village was later developed. With wife Pam, they bought their first section at Whareroa in 1987, and built a holiday home in 1989. At that time, it was just the 6th house to be built in the subdivision!
Stephen comes from a strong background of sales including purchasing the family grocery business at Te Kuiti in 1979. This was redeveloped and later sold in 1987, when Stephen joined the team at Excelsior Nissan, first as a salesperson and then as Branch Manager for 7 years. Stephen was a Councillor with the Waitomo District Council for 12 years during his time in Te Kuiti.
The family moved permanently to Whareroa in 2001 where Stephens initial plan was to operate his fishing charter business but soon the business expanded to include the sale of fishing licences and boat ramp permits and then to include property management, lawn mowing and real estate sales.
Stephen has been the Chairman of the Whareroa Village Residents Association for the past four years and looks after the day-to-day needs of the villagers in this busy role.
Stephens ability to listen, product knowledge and total commitment are the hallmarks of Stephens success - I wouldnt live anywhere else. Whareroa has everything we need and I very much enjoy the people, lake and the atmosphere the Village has
