Listing and selling real estate is not just about houses; more importantly, it is about people. Communicating with them, gaining their trust and giving confidence in your integrity and ability to assist them in meeting their real estate objectives. Steve Simpson through his friendly and personable attitude to people and to life generally has these skills that immediately give confidence.
A Wellingtonian at heart, Steve was educated at St Patrick’ College and in earlier years, represented NZ in water polo and Wellington in both water polo and rugby. Typical of a lot of Kiwis, he did the usual OE travelling extensively and living in Canada for a number of years.
Since his return to Wellington, Steve has honed his people and management skills as a co-founder and managing Director of the popular Wellington Sports Café in Courtenay Place from 1998-2004. He then worked for Moneybox Financial Services as an Insurance Advisor from 2004-2007. Steve was an instant success and an award winner in the Insurance Industry being named as a Gold Advisor and AMP New Advisor of the Year (a national award) in 2006. Moneybox Financial Services have a close affinity with the real estate industry and it was Steve’s association with real estate agents and in particular with Tommy’s Real Estate that has influenced his move into real estate sales. Steve has already had experience as a property owner, renovator and new home developer so real estate sales is a natural progression for him and is an industry in which he has already acquired a high level of product knowledge.
Steve, by his own admission is a passionate Wellingtonian, a strong advocate for Seatoun where he lives with his wife Joanna and 3 children and when time permits, he loves to relax with his family or to perhaps leave the work place behind and take to the hills on his dirt bike.
In the words of Tommy Heptinstall, Managing Director of Tommy’s Real Estate
“Steve is a wonderful person of high morals and integrity. He is a popular member of our sales team and I have complete confidence in his ability to deliver a high level of customer service and to succeed in real estate.â€
What Steve’s clients say…
Steve is honest and up-front
“I have known Stephen Simpson for over 20 years and have acted for him in numerous property and legal matters for most of that time. I believe that I have a good knowledge of Stephen’s character, ability and personality.
In my opinion, I believe Stephen to be an extremely capable and motivated person. Stephen has taken on various challenges during his life. Stephen has been highly successful in most, if not all, of those challenges and as a consequence I believe him to be not just confident, but also someone who has experience in different aspects of life which he is able to use to his advantage in his present career path.
In my opinion, I believe Stephen to be a person of integrity, someone who is honest and up-front with people. I am aware that people do appreciate dealing with Stephen in business matters as a consequence of these characteristics.
Stephen is motivated and will succeed in life.â€

Steve is very professional and enthusiastic
“Wanting to add a rental property to my investment portfolio, I elected to call upon Steve Simpson of Tommy’s due to his extensive experience in the procurement of rental properties in the Wellington region.
Steve spent time firstly listening to my brief on the type of property I was looking for then provided valuable advice on the current market conditions.
After careful consideration, Steve identified the type of property that best matched our profile and then proactively went about to find it.
Within a short period of time, Steve had located a number of options and subsequently we successfully purchased a property.
I was delighted with the result and found Steve to be very professional and enthusiastic. Steve is easy going and with his good sense of humour makes him a pleasure to deal with. I will certainly deal with Steve again in the future and would recommend his services to others.†Stephen Natoli
Steve is considerate, tactful, obliging and friendly
During our professional relationship with Steve we experienced;
• his friendly, but not “pushy†manner in showing us through the house
• his loyalty to his company and colleagues whilst dealing with our disappointment over a requested earlier contact
• him giving us “space†to look around and see things for ourselves – so we did not feel rushed
• his availability and offers to facilitate further visits
• his support for us as viewers with information and answers to questions regarding the property
• his giving information to us as buyers, without prejudicing the vendors interest
We experienced Steve as being a considerate, tactful, obliging and friendly person, committed to his company and the Vendor, and would recommend him to other potential buyers. Ainslie & Bill
