Co-owner and graphic designer, Jo de Greeuw says much of the kauri is from an historic woollen mill near Ashbuton. "The lanolin from the wool has soaked into the beams over a century and a half, leaving them extremely well preserved and enhancing their aged soft patina."
Jo has chosen to let the beauty of nature provide the interior décor highlights and ambiance of the home. This begins in the entranceway with a stunning marble-floored foyer which has a soaring eight metre stud overhung with a striking David Trubridge light fitting. To the left a stacked schist wall flanks a kauri staircase which leads up to the open plan kitchen and living areas.

The kitchen is spacious with both a lounging area and bar stools inviting guests to linger by a rimu bar top which floats over a thick, black granite benchtop. A large stainless steel freestanding oven works back with charcoal and frosted glass joinery and a mirror-finish polished timber floor.

Down either steps which wrap around the schist feature fireplace, you connect with an impressive dining and lounging area surrounded by double glazed, lightly tinted glass and sweeping bifold doors, which can be thrown open to a sunny sheltered deck and one of the many outdoor seating and entertaining areas.

The view from all rooms in the home is breathtaking. From Mt Hutt and the Southern Alps in the southwest through to the north east sea vistas and the Kaikoura's, Canterbury stretches in front of you in uninhibited views which will never be spoilt by development.
