Twenty years ago, our sellers came from Hawkes Bay to this very spot, enjoying the ebb and flow of thousands of tides below, first from an historic cottage and now from this striking modern home. Now the tide has turned, and they are drawn back to the Bay for family and friends, and some well-earned semi-retirement!

After their cottage was damaged in our EQs, they commissioned Rene Spijkerman of Renco Architectural Design to create a design to maximize sun, shelter and views. Having lived here on this 665sqm site our owners knew exactly where the best vantage points were and together with Rene's expertise this special home evolved. Solidly constructed in block, Hebel and Cedar, every room in the house has spectacular views both across McCormack's Bay and up to the hills behind. Two further bedrooms and an office below provide space for family. A log burner, under tile heating in the three bathrooms, and three (dual purpose) heat pumps supply year round comfort. A basement studio under the garage is light and bright with its own private decking. Currently in use as a workshop or 'man cave', we can see a multitude of uses here!

The newly reconstructed Mt Pleasant Community Centre is a huge asset to this friendly neighbourhood with classes and activities all week, a café, and a Farmers Market every Saturday. On Sundays in Summer Food Trucks gather and there is a picnic mood bringing locals and visitors together. This is a strong community our sellers will sorely miss but the decision has been made and it's time for a new family.
