I began my real estate career in 1991 as a salesperson and took up the opportunity to become one of the owners of the Tawa Harcourts franchise in 1996. Our philosophy for the business from day one was a team approach to both listing or selling, which means every client has the whole office working for them. Our team has consistently sold the most homes in Tawa every year and over the past 10 years we have also developed a property management division within the business which manages over 200 properties for our landlords.

For me the most rewarding aspect of real estate is helping people achieve their property ownership goals, whether they are buying, selling or investing. My aim has always been to create clients for life, and having been in the business so long, I am now happy to be selling properties to the children of my early clients! I am proud to own a business that gives so much back to the community through sponsorship of numerous sporting clubs, community groups and schools and grants through the Harcourts Foundation.

On a personal note, I’ve been married to my wife Jan since 1984 and we’ve enjoyed living in Tawa since 1990. It proved a great community to raise our three children who all attended the local schools and are now young adults, starting their own families. In my spare time I’m actively involved in the local squash club as well as being a serious rugby spectator in the winter. In summer I dust of my mountain bike and enjoy getting away in our campervan to hopefully indulge in a spot of fishing.

Dean was born and raised in Tawa and has been a Tawa resident for over 40 years. Dean knows the area inside and out. Having attended Greenacres Primary School, Tawa Intermediate and Tawa College as a youngster, stints living in other areas of New Zealand and overseas have confirmed for him that Tawa is an amazing suburb which has an outstanding community and he is thrilled to reside here and be able to help people realise their property dreams.

Prior to joining the Harcourts team, Dean has worked in various Sales and Branch Management roles for over 19 years in the commercial sector. He has successfully developed and maintained customer relationships, negotiated deals, and used excellent communication skills that will be a recipe for success in dealing with his real estate clients.

Married to Steph for 17 years, they have two boys that currently attend Tawa College. Both Dean and Steph have been involved with the boys’ sports, schools, and community. Steph was on the Board of Trustees at Greenacres School, Junior Convenor and Chair of North City Cricket Club. Dean coached Junior Rugby and Tennis for both Tawa clubs. Dean still spends many hours on the side line watching the boys, he is very family oriented.
